Mark is a licensed architect in the state of Massachusetts (#951636), and maintains the design practice, RULEStudio. Prior to RULES Mark worked at architecture practices in Arkansas and Boston – including Marlon Blackwell Architects, Spann Architecture, Merge Architects, William Rawn Associates, ADD Inc. (now Stantec) and rukamathu.smith.

In addition to his work in architecture practice, Mark serves as Director of Special Project at the Boston Architectural College (BAC). He oversees the school’s professional practice curriculum and teaches course on topics of practice and fabrication both onsite and online. He is the BAC’s architecture licensing advisor and oversees the schools Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL) program. Mark is the BAC’s representative on the Boston Society of Architects (BSA) Board of Directors is an advisory member on the AIA’s Center for Practice committee.

Prior to his full-time position at the BAC, Mark served as an adjunct instructor at the BAC, Northeastern University, Roger Williams University, Rhode Island School of Design and spent three years as a full-time faculty and first-year coordinator at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.

Mark received a Bachelor of Architecture, cum laude, from the University of Arkansas in 2003 and a Master of Architecture for Harvard University Graduate School of Design, with distinction, in 2013.
